Links to Make You Smile

In addition to sunshine and a new month, here are some links to make you smile! (I spent too much time online when I was out sick).

A pretty new iPhone background.

Ed Sheeran singing all of his songs from + in 3 minutes.

Hilarious Les Mis captions.

Cameras one and two that are on my wishlist right now.

Currently obsessing over this outfit.

Yellow color trend herehere, and here.

New Girl autotune remix "Kiss Me Like a Man". Too good (and oddly catchy)!

I've enjoyed this tumblr post a ton since I'm almost-almost caught up on Doctor Who (season 6)!

Amusing animals: a videotumblr, and tumblr.

Happy Wednesday!

Merry May!

If only every month could be brought in with a JT serenade!

A very merry May to you all! I, for one, have very high hopes for this month. I am looking forward to consistent warm weather and the chance to go on bike rides in the park and breaking out my Jack Rogers.

1) Jack Rogers. A Spring staple! Thank goodness it's finally time to wear these again. I will be wearing them basically every day from now until fall.

2) The Great Gatsby. Is anyone else thrilled for this movie to come out? My calendar is already set for May 10th, I can't wait! I'm also looking forward to reading a lot this spring.

3) Picnics! Good weather, friends, and a day in the park--what could be better? I'm hoping for some nice picnic outings soon.
(I'm always reminded of one of my old favorite books whenever "it's a beautiful day for a pic-a-nic!")

4) Bike rides. Really no explanation needed, I'm just looking forward to being outdoors finally!

5) Essie Spring colors! Now that it's Jacks season again, it's the perfect time for a bright pedicure.

What are you looking forward to this month?

Sick Day Shenanigans

When I was little, sick days meant mom or grandma staying home from work just to be with me and making me toast with cinnamon butter and getting to stay in pajamas all day and watch movies on the couch. Although being sick was no fun, staying home from school was a little treat, and it felt like a special, secret world. These days however, I cannot find any solace in sick days.

Well, you guessed it, today I am home from school and not enjoying a moment of it. I've been sick so much this year that I get even more anxious when I need a day off. When I am home alone and resting, I always follow the same pattern. Sleep, cuddle with puppy, watch tv, commence freak out about lack of productivity, try to sleep, freak out some more.

I feel all of this pressure to be productive in other ways since I'm not being productive at school or with my work right now. I think, "Hm, this is a good time to... Worry about my summer plans. Think about due dates coming up. Think about the huge stack of books I haven't had the time to read. Make a mental checklist of what I need to do as soon as I feel better. Ponder my life decisions and goals..." Etc, etc. the list goes on and on. My brain is a scary place scarier place when I'm not feeling well.

In my mental flailing and desire to be productive today, I ended up:

  • Watching some Gilmore Girls and Netflix
After all, it was Lorelai who taught the importance of tv and child-like enjoyment in being sick:
"He's so helpless. It must be so awful to be sick when you're a dog... 'cause you can't run or play and you don't watch TV or do anything to pass the time. Watching a lot of TV is the only good part about being sick."
  • Paying a visit to my much neglected tumblr and blog

  • Sleeping a bunch, though not nearly enough
  • Cuddling with Charles Bingley of course :)

With the school year beginning to wrap up, it's natural to have a lot on your mind, but sick days are meant for recuperating! Maybe one day I will actually learn that.

What do you do on your sick days? Any tips for relaxing?

{Lazy} Snow Day

With (not-so-little) NEMO passing by, today was absolutely a stay-inside-all-day, very lazy snow day.

I woke up at 8, had waffles and raspberries for breakfast (yum), watched morning talk shows (what?), took a nap (WHAT?), spent some time reading Shakespearean sonnets and looking at blogs, watched a movie, worked a little, and now I'm gearing up to watch Shakespeare Uncovered with David Tennant as Hamlet on PBS!

Stay warm, stay safe, and read a good book on this snowy day!
